Nigerian Dwarf Goats
The "Nigerian Addiction"
When I moved out to Louisburg in 2008 I started looking around for a livestock
companion, preferably one that would produce enough milk for cheesemaking.
I wasn't sure of my ability to handle even a small cow so started researching goats.
The first goats I met were full sized dairy goats, and even they were rather
intimidating. I was very happy when I found out about NIgerians. These small goats
make excellent pets, but can also be used as home dairy goats, and are quite
productive for their size! They are clean, personable, and come in all sorts of
colors!
My first Nigerian goat was a rescue case - she was scheduled to be bought for
meat and the buyer had transportation difficulties, so I got her. I was fortunate
enough after that to meet some of the NC breeders and add some lovely goats to
my herd! I want to especially thank the following folks for being so generous with
their time and advice:

Sharon McCarty, Caesar's Villa
Sharon Rupp, Tranquility Acres
Leslie Edwards, Carolina Caprines
Christine Peckman, Crooked Cedar Farm
